Alan Frank
Born - 7 December 1937, South Africa
Died - 16 May 2023

My genial, wisecracking co-writer and author of numerous books, mainly on the horror genre, Alan was born in South Africa, but raised up country in Kenya and Tanzania (then Tanganyika), where his mother was a head teacher, before coming to England. Besides his writing achievements - he spent more than 30 years as film critic for The Morning Star and later The Daily Star - Alan was also an enthusiastic extra in many films, all the way from The Guns of Navarone (1959) to I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle in 1990. After his death from kidney problems, a film-themed funeral ended with the "That's All Folks!" closing chorus from Warner Brothers cartoons.
