John Llewellyn Moxey

Director

Born - 26 February 1925, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Died - 29 April 2019

Balding, bespectacled, pipe-smoking director, resident in Britain after war service, and an assistant director from 1948 with Calling Paul Temple. He began directing films - billed as John Moxey - a decade later: Foxhole in Cairo (1960), City of the Dead (1960), Death Trap (1962), Ricochet (1963), Downfall (1964), Strangler's Web (1965) and Psycho-Circus (1966). In the late 1960s, he went to America, and stayed to direct literally dozens of movies-for-television, beginning with The House That Would Not Die (1970), running all the way through to Lady Mobster (1988), showing a penchant for thrillers and chillers. He rounded off his career with 18 episodes of the popular TV series Murder, She Wrote.
