Actress

Born - 6 October 1932, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England
Died - 16 August 2019

Tall, bug-eyed, apple-cheeked, dark-haired British actress and comedienne in the Joyce Grenfell tradition. Mainly on stage, she had a brief film career in the 1960s, mostly in gurgling cameos, but later film appearances were in sexploitation comedies of the kind popular in the UK cinema of the 1970s. She entered films in 1964 with A Hard Day's Night and subsequently popped up in Drop Dead, Darling (1966), Casino Royale (1967), Smashing Time (1967), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), Up the Chastity Belt (1971), Mistress Pamela (1973), Eskimo Nell (1974), Three for All (1975), The Seven-Per-Cent Solution (1976), Adventures of a Private Eye (1977), Adventures of a Plumber's Mate (1978), SOS Titanic (1979), and Towers of Babel (1981), her last, although she continued appearing on stage and TV until 1999. No relation to actor Anthony Quayle, she died from Lewy body dementia.
