Charly Bravo

Actor

Born - 6 March 1943, Casablanca, Morocco
Died - 23 June 2020

Light-haired, moustachioed, latterly bearded Spanish-Moroccan actor with prominent top teeth, who appeared in almost 200 films, many of them paella or spaghetti westerns, usually as villains or other colourful supporting characters. Born Carlos Bravo, and acting as such until 1970, he made his film debut at 19 in Los Motorizados (1962), but it would be another five years before he settled into the continental 'western' universe: Villa's Guerillas (1967), 1001 Nights (1968), 100 Rifles (1969), Land Raiders (1970), El Condor (1970), A Town Called Bastard (1971), Captain Apache (1971), Travels With My Aunt (1972), Call of the Wild (1972), The Man Called Noon (1973), The Son of Zorro (1973), Las Violentas (1974), Cipollas Colt (1975), The Return of Robin Hood (1976), China 9, Liberty 37 (1978), Seven Days in January (1979), Comin' at Ya! (1981), Labyrinth of Passion (1982), Monster Dog (1984), Tex and the Lord of the Deep (1985), White Apache (1987), Blood and Sand (1989), The Cross of Iberia (1990), The Naked Target (1992), Matias, Soccer Referee (1995), Pintadas (1997) and En la Ciudad sin Limites (2001). Bravo spent the last 20 years of his life living in a Madrid hostel, playing guitar at local tavernas and hotels to earn his keep. There was one further film appearance, though, in the 2010 castaway movie Naufragio.
