Richard Rush

Director

Born - 15 April 1929, New York City, USA
Died - 8 April 2021

Tall, moustachioed director who made drive-in exploitation movies throughout the late sixties, but only few, albeit on a bigger scale, thereafter, some projects being lost in development limbo. After a debut with Teenage Lovers/Too Soon to Love in 1960, he made Of Love and Desire (1963), The Fickle Finger of Fate (1967), Thunder Alley (1967), Hells Angels on Wheels (1967), Psych-Out (1968), A Man Called Dagger (1968), The Savage Seven (1968), Getting Straight (1970). Freebie and the Bean (1974), The Stunt Man (1980) and Color of Night (1994), his last. He also wrote the screenplay for Air America (1990), one of the projects he himself had originally planned to direct. He died following 'long-term health issues'. Claude, his wife of more than 40 years, and a son survive him.
