Stars: John Cusack, Samuel L Jackson, Mary McCormack, Tony Shalhoub
Director: Mikael Hafstrom
Although classily made, this horror film has no gore and isn't especially scary. Easily panicked paranormal investigator Mike (Cusack) books in at the ghost-ridden room 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel - with predictable results.
The ensuing paranormal activities, with ghosties and ghoulies all over the shop, might spook Mike but they don't frighten us.
Jackson is star-billed but hardly in this, as the film is almost entirely composed of shots of Cusack trying to look scared. Why didn't he just go to bed? You're advised to do the same.
