Interview
Stars: Sienna Miller, Steve Buscemi
Director: Steve Buscemi
A film that flatters to deceive. Political journalist Buscemi is cheesed off at having to interview B-movie actress Miller. She's an hour late and it's a disaster. But when he's injured in a taxi collision, she takes him home, and the story turns into an evening of soul-baring on both sides.
Or does it? Who can tell when either is telling the truth about their chequered past lives?
Miller - as a character who terminates an unwanted phone call from a boyfriend with 'Oh, honey, I just started bleeding' - again demonstrates the acting chops that could yet make her a mainstream star.
The film, though, after a fascinating first half, never goes anywhere, never develops toward the kind of explosive or even satisfying ending that might have you hailing it as an art movie to watch. As a character actor, Buscemi remains indispensable. As a director, he continues to frustrate us by not quite realising his potential.
