Patricia Barry

Actress

Born - 16 November 1921, Davenport, Iowa, USA
Died - 11 October 2016

Slow-burning, dark-haired American actress, a 'B' western heroine who graduated to both leading and supporting roles in bigger films. Vaguely reminiscent of both Rita Hayworth and Barbara Stanwyck in looks, she began her career under her real name, Patricia White, initially with Warner Brothers: Indiscretion (1945), The Beast with Five Fingers (1946), Humoresque (1946), Deception (1946) and Cry Wolf (1947). Freelancing, she made Rose of Santa Rosa (1947), When a Girl's Beautiful (1947), Trapped by Boston Blackie (1948), Blazing Across the Pecos (1948), Singin' Spurs (1948), Riders of the Whistling Pines (1949), The Undercover Man (1949) and The Tattooed Stranger (1950). Marrying producer Philip Barry, she was billed as Patricia Barry for the rest of her career, much of it spent in TV series. Later films included Safe at Home! (1962), the 'other woman' in Doris Day's Send Me No Flowers (1964), Dear Heart (1965), The Marriage of a Young Stockbroker (1971), The End of August (1982), Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983), Sea of Love (1989), Invasion of Privacy (1992) and Delusional (2014), her last. Her husband died in 1998.
