Tammy Grimes

Born - 30 January 1934, Boston, Massachusetts, USA
Died - 30 October 2016

Sharp-faced, strawberry-blonde American actress, a leading performer on Broadway, where she won a Tony as the original The Unsinkable Molly Brown. But she gained a reputation for being difficult to work with, and her success was never quite emulated on film, where she later played a few character roles. On TV from 1955, she was in a TV movie, The Gift of the Magi, in 1958, but films came some time later: Three Bites of the Apple (1967), Arthur! Arthur! (1969), Play It As It Lays (1972), Somebody Killed Her Husband (1978), Can't Stop the Music (1980), The Stuff (1985), Mr North (1988), Slaves of New York (1989), Backstreet Justice (1994), High Art (1998) and the short Breathe (2005), her last. She married actors Christopher Plummer - the actress Amanda Plummer is their daughter - and Jeremy Slate, and composer Richard Jameson Bell, who died in 2005.
