Stephane Audran

Born - 8 November 1932, Versailles, France
Died - 26 March 2018

Glacial, quite tall, blonde French actress of cool demeanour, married (second) for 15 years to filmmaker Claude Chabrol, who directed her in 24 of his films. At the forefront of French cinema for more than four decades, she was born Colette Dacheville, which seems a perfectly good movie name, but still... Debuting at 25 in Le Jeu de la Nuit, her distinguished CV includes Modigliani of Montparnasse (1958), Les Cousins (1959), Les Bonnes Femmes (1960), Bluebeard (1963), Paris Vu Par... (1965), The Champagne Murders (1967), Les Biches (1968), Le Femme Infidele (1969), Le Boucher (1970), Juste Avant la Nuit (1971), The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (1972), Les Noces Rouges/Blood Wedding (1973), The Black Bird (1975), Silver Bears (1977), Blood Relatives (1978), Eagle's Wing (1979), The Big Red One (1980), Boulevard des Assassins (1982), The Bay Boy (1984), Babette's Feast (1987), Quiet Days in Clichy (1990), Betty (1992), Maximum Risk (1996), Belle Maman (1999), Ma Femme...S'Appelle Maurice (2002) and The Girl from Monaco (2008), her last. She also appeared in Orson Welles' unfinished 1975 film The Other Side of the Wind, which is currently being reassembled. Her first husband was actor Jean-Louis Trintignant. She died from cancer.
