Quietly beautiful, tawny-haired actress in British films who married at 19, then came to Britain with her British army officer husband and their two young children and began modelling, and later acting careers. After a fleeting debut in Knights of the Round Table (1953), she had a couple of leading roles for the Rank Organisation, but regressed to lesser films and, later, lesser roles. Movie appearances included those in I Am a Camera (1954), Value for Money (1955), Simon and Laura (1955), House of Secrets (1956), Lost/Tears for Simon (1956), Chain of Events (1957), Mark of the Phoenix (1958), Model for Murder (1958), The Trunk (1960), Carry On Regardless (1961) and The Double Man (1967), her last. Born Julia Bachfeld, she was twice married and divorced and had three children.
