Tim Brooke-Taylor

Born - 7 July 1940, Buxton, Derbyshire, England
Died - 11 April 2020

Chubby, cherubic, fair-haired, not-too-tall humorist whose cheery countenance was an integral part of TV comedy entertainment over several decades, especially in the endearingly silly series The Goodies. His fruitily mellow tones were also frequently heard on the long-running comedy panel show I'm Sorry, I Haven't a Clue on radio. He began his TV appearances with a role in the original production of Cathy Come Home in 1966 but, unsurprisingly, a film career could hardly be fitted into his busy schedule; however, there were a few: 12 + 1 (1969), The Statue (1970), Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971), The Comet is Coming! (1981) and Under the Bed (1988), his last, although he later appeared in the iconic TV movie The Nearly Complete and Utter History of Everything in 1999. He died from coronavirus. Christine, his wife of more than 50 years, survives him.
