Light-haired, pale-eyed, solidly-built Italian actor. Born Domenico Palmara, and initially (and latterly) billed as Mimmo Palmara, he entered films in his early twenties (soon beginning a long-term association with director Luchino Visconti), and later achieved a modicum of fame in muscleman epics and spaghetti westerns, playing supporting roles in major productions and leading parts in lesser action movies: Inganno (1952), The Wanton Countess (1953), Attila the Hun (1953), Woman of the River (1954), War and Peace (1956), White Nights (1957), Hercules (1958), Hercules Unchained (1959), The Last Days of Pompeii (1959), The Colossus of Rhodes (1961), Sodom and Gomorrah (1962), The Ten Gladiators (1963), Bullets Don't Argue (1964), For $1000 a Day (1966), The Stranger (1967), A Long Ride from Hell (1968), Isabella, the Devils' Duchess (1969), The Devil's Backbone (1971), Panhandle 38 (1972), The Arena (1974), Violent City (1975), Un Poliziotto Scomodo (1978), The Sicilian Connection (1987), 28 Minutes (1991) and Un Inverno Freddo Freddo (1996), his last. From the mid 1970s, he concentrated on dubbing voices into Italian from foreign-language films.
