Long-faced, fresh-looking (later bearded) actor playing small roles in UK films until he moved into production. Often cast as callow servicemen in his early years, Fabian made his film debut at 21 in Trottie True (1948), continuing with minor roles in The Spider and the Fly (1949), Under Capricorn (1949), Appointment in London (1952), Seagulls Over Sorrento (1954), The Passing Stranger (1954), The Night My Number Came Up (1955), A Town Like Alice (1956), Quatermass 2 (1957), Grip of the Strangler (1958), The Solitary Child (1958), A Question of Adultery (1958) and First Man into Space (1959). Later, he moved to the other side of the camera, and became associate producer on many successful TV series, most notably The Onedin Line and Secret Army.
