Zalman King

Actor/director/writer/producer

Born - 23 May 1942, Trenton, New Jersey, USA
Died - 3 February 2012

A lean actor with dark, curly hair and predatory looks, King (born Zalman Lefkovitz) became one of America's foremost purveyors of posh erotica, most notably with the Red Shoe Diaries series, which found their way to film, TV and video. He had begun as an actor on TV in the early 1960s. Films came a bit later and included The Ski Bum (1971), Some Call It Loving (1973), The Passover Plot (1976), Blue Sunshine (1978), Galaxy of Terror (1981) and Endangered Species (1982). After a spell as a producer, which included Nine and a Half Weeks (1986), he began directing films, most of which he also scripted: Two Moon Junction (1988), Wild Orchid (1989), Delta of Venus (1995), In God's Hands (1998), Women of the Night (2001), Chromiumblue.com (2003) and Kamikaze Love (2012), his last. He died from cancer.
