Virginia Gibson

Actress/dancer

Born - 9 April 1928, St Louis, Missouri, USA
Died - 25 April 2013

Darkly auburn-haired, ultra-slim soubrette of sharp-faced prettiness, in secondary musical roles at Warners, then MGM, in the early 1950s, and one of the seven brides wooed by the seven brothers. Born Virginia Gorski, she was on stage in her native city at 17, before getting chorus work, then understudying on the New York stage before Warner Brothers signed her in 1950. Here she normally played second fiddle to such stars as Doris Day and Virginia Mayo, taking just one leading role, in About Face (1952). Other movies in a shortish Hollywood career included Tea for Two (1950), Painting the Clouds with Sunshine (1951), Starlift (1951), Stop, You're Killing Me (1952), She's Back on Broadway (1953), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954), Athena (1955), I Killed Wild Bill Hickok (1956) and Funny Face (1957), her last.
