Ginger-haired, blue-eyed American character player, often in small parts, but big-time as a dialect coach, in which capacity he became known as the Henry Higgins of Hollywood. Raised in Texas, and bearded from the late 1960s, Easton (born Robert Easton Burke) was frequently cast as hillbillies in his younger days, acting in films from his late teens: Undertow (1949), Union Station (1950), The Red Badge of Courage (1951), Comin' Round the Mountain (1951), Feudin' Fools (1952), Take Me to Town (1953), The Raid (1954), The Kettles in the Ozarks (1956), Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956), When Hell Broke Loose (1958), Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1961), The War Lover (1962), The Loved One (1965), Paint Your Wagon (1969), Johnny Got His Gun (1971), The Giant Spider Invasion (1975), Pete's Dragon (1977), When You Comin' Back, Red Ryder?
