Big, light-haired American singer and actor, with large head and fresh, outdoorsy looks. After a career on local stage, playing leads in such musicals as Carousel and Oklahoma!, he entered films and TV in his late twenties. Following a series of roles in TV movies, the actor, born James Kevin Scannell, began a 12-year period in films with the iconic short Ray's Male Heterosexual Dance Hall in 1987. Later credits include Shoot to Kill (1988), Turner & Hooch (1989), The Boyfriend School (1990), Backfield in Motion (1991), The Player (1992), Monkey Trouble (1993), Milk Money (1994), Pie in the Sky (1995), The Late Shift (1996), Chairman of the Board (1998), Show & Tell (1988), Bowfinger (1999) and the short Action 6 News (2009), his last, his latter years being spent back in the theatre. He died 'after a short illness'.
