Thin-lipped, dark-haired, handsomely hawk-like English-born Hollywood co-star actor, an ever-present in films and TV who rounded off his career with almost 700 appearances in the TV dramas Santa Barbara and The Bay. Teenage studies at RADA in London were followed by a busy Hollywood career: Titanic (1953), The Desert Rats (1953), The Black Shield of Falworth (1954), The Fortune Hunter (1954), The Eternal Sea (1955), City of Shadows (1956), Light Fantastic (1963), My Blood Runs Cold (1965), The Sporting Club (1970), 1776 (1972), All the President's Men (1976), MacArthur - the Rebel General (1977), The Big Fix (1978), Goldengirl (1979), The Electric Horseman (1979), The Hunter (1980), Stir Crazy (1980), Reds (1981), Big Business (1988), Betsy's Wedding (1990), Freedom Strike (1998), Love Happens (1999), A Day Out With Gordy (2002), Plot 7 (2007), Race (2008), Dancing on a Dry Salt Lake (2010), Cold Turkey (2013), The Southside (2015), Con Man (2018) and The Last Exorcist (2020), his last. Survived by his second wife Beth and three children; first wife was cult actress Candace Hilligoss.
