Hefty, handsome, fair-haired heavyweight wrestling champ who also studied at RADA and had a 17-year acting career, often in leading roles in UK 'B' features or Italian muscleman epics. After winning the European Heavyweight Championship in 1952, and appearing in the documentary short Fit As a Fiddle (1952), Robinson, born Joseph Robinson Harle, made his feature film debut as Diana Dors' love interest in A Kid for Two Farthings (1954). Further credits include Amore (1956), Action Stations (1956), Fighting Mad (1957), The Flesh is Weak (1957), Sea Fury (1958), The Two Faces of Dr Jekyll (1960), Barabbas (1961), Ursus and the Tartar Princess (1961), The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1962), Thor the Mighty (1963), Thor and the Amazon Women (1964), The Undertakers (1969), battling Connery's James Bond in Diamonds Are Forever (1971), and Diamonds on Wheels (1972), his last. He later worked as a stunt arranger in films, and opened a martial arts centre in Brighton.
