Alexander/Alex Davion

Actor

Born - 31 March 1929, Paris, France
Died - 28 October 2019

Dark-haired, sharply handsome French-born actor in British films, at first in uncredited bit parts, but in more prominent 'second lead' roles after his performance as Chopin in Song Without End (1960), which led him into work in America and abroad. His early career was mostly spent on TV, with occasional film roles including minor appearances in Captain Horatio Hornblower RN (1951), The Good Die Young (1954), Richard III (1955), Paranoiac (1963) and Rattle of a Simple Man (1964), the year in which he embarked on four years of the TV series Gideon's Way, as John Gregson's second-in-command at CID. Later film credits include The Plague of the Zombies (1966), Valley of the Dolls (1967), The Royal Hunt of The Sun (1969), Incense for the Damned (1970), Clinic Xclusive (1971), Charley One-Eye (1973), Dark Echoes (1977) and Whoops Apocalypse (1986), his last, although he continued to act on TV and the stage until the early 1990s. His second wife, actress Anne Lawson, survives him.
