Barry Coe

Born - 26 November 1934, Los Angeles, California, USA
Died - 16 July 2019

Dark-haired American 'second lead' of fresh-faced handsomeness, resident at Fox for more than a decade from the mid 1950s. A bright young thing who never quite made the big-time, Coe, born Barry Heacock (Coe was his stepfather's name), made his debut in House of Bamboo (1955). Further credits include How to Be Very, Very Popular (1955), On the Threshold of Space (1956), Love Me Tender (1956), Peyton Place (1957, as Rodney Harrington), The Bravados (1958), But Not for Me (1959), A Private's Affair (1959), One Foot in Hell (1960), The Wizard of Baghdad (1960), The 300 Spartans (1962), A Letter to Nancy (1964), Fantastic Voyage (1966), The Seven Minutes (1971), Doctor Death: Seeker of Souls (1973), Deadly Shootout (1975), MacArthur (1977) and Jaws 2 (1978), his last before he became more involved with production. He died from myelodysplastic syndrome, a bone marrow disease, survived by Jorunn, his wife of over 60 years.
