Striking, raven-haired British actress, a frequent cover girl whose bright style of prettiness was popular in the 1950s when, after frequent TV appearances, she was briefly in leading film roles. Despite a sometimes unhappy private life, she kept her career going, mainly on TV, into the 1970s. Born Eunice Sargaison, she had made her debut in UK films at 20 and worked steadily: My Brother Jonathan (1948), The Huggetts Abroad (1949), Dance Hall (1950), To Have and to Hold (1951), Miss Robin Hood (1952), Street Corner (1953), Dance Little Lady (1954), Out of the Clouds (1955), Zarak (1956), The Last Man to Hang? (1956), Carry On Admiral (1957), The Revenge of Frankenstein (1958), Hello London (1958, released 1960), Dr No (1962) and From Russia With Love (1963). Her last film role, in Goldfinger (1964) ended up on the cutting-room floor. Often credited as the first Bond girl, from her initial meeting with Sean Connery in Dr No, she was twice divorced.
