Dark-haired American actor of sharply lean-faced handsomeness. Born William Regnolds, he was in films as a teenager before a seven-year contract with Universal-International brought him sundry 'second-lead' and occasional minor starring roles. After that, he turned largely to TV, most notably as an agent in seven years of the hit series The F.B.I. From the mid 1970s, he carved out a new career as a businessman. After a debut in Dear Brat (1951), he was seen in No Questions Asked (1951), The Cimarron Kid (1951), Carrie (1952), Has Anybody Seen My Gal (1952), Son of Ali Baba (1952), The Mississippi Gambler (1953) and Gunsmoke (1953), followed by a break for Korean war service, then All That Heaven Allows (1955), Cult of the Cobra (1955), Away All Boats (1956), There's Always Tomorrow (1956), Mister Cory (1957), The Land Unknown (1957), The Thing That Couldn't Die (1958), The Big Beat (1958), Red Nightmare (1962), FBI Code 98 (1963), A Distant Trumpet (1964) and Follow Me Boys! (1966), his last. He died from pneumonia.
