Jacques d'Amboise

A principal dancer with the New York City Ballet from 1950, the tall, brown-haired, ever-smiling d'Amboise (it was his mother's maiden name) also appeared in a few films, most notably as one of the backwoods brothers in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in 1954. Other titles included Carousel (1956), The Best Things in Life Are Free (1956), A Midsummer Night's Dream (1967), Davidsbundlertanze (1981), He Makes Me Feel Like Dancin' (1983), Offbeat (1986), Who's Dancin' Now? (1999), Every Little Step (2008) and You'll Never Walk Alone (2017), his last. He married NYCB ballerina Carolyn George and their four children survive him. His wife died in 2009. D'Amboise (born Jacques Ahearn) died after a stroke.
