Dean Stockwell

Actor

Born - 5 March 1936, Los Angeles, California, USA
Died - 7 November 2021

Appealing American boy actor with dark-hair and initially chubby face. As a young adult, he offered two excellent performances in Compulsion (1959) and Sons and Lovers (1960), but his star career got away from him in the 1960s as he searched for suitable subjects. He returned as a cutting co-star in the following decade and later had a hit TV series with Quantum Leap. He became furiously busy in films of the 1980s and 1990s. Born 'on the spot' in North Hollywood, he entered films at nine and was soon in demand: The Valley of Decision (1945), Anchors Aweigh (1945), The Green Years (1946), Song of the Thin Man (1947), Gentleman's Agreement (1947), Deep Waters (1948), The Boy With Green Hair (1948), Down to the Sea in Ships (1949), The Secret Garden (1949), Kim (1950), The Happy Years (1950), Cattle Drive (1951), Gun for a Coward (1956), The Careless Years (1957), Long Day's Journey into Night (1962), Rapture (1965), Psych-Out (1968), The Dunwich Horror (1970), The Last Movie (1971), The Loners (1972), The Werewolf of Washington (1973), Win, Place or Steal (1974), Won Ton Ton, the Dog Who Saved Hollywood (1975), Tracks (1976), One Away (1977), She Came to the Valley (1979), The Man With the Deadly Lens (1982), Paris, Texas (1984), Dune (1984), To Live and Die in L.A. (1985), Blue Velvet (1986), Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), Tucker: The Man and His Dream (1988), Limit Up (1989), Catchfire (1990), The Player (1992), Chasers (1994), Mr Wrong (1996), The Rainmaker (1997), Air Force One (1997), Rites of Passage (1999), Buffalo Soldiers (2001), The Manchurian Candidate (2004), The Deal (2007), Max Rose (2013), Deep in the Darkness (2014), Entertainment (2015), his last, and many more. An Oscar nominee for Married to the Mob (1988), and also an exhibited artist, he was the brother of actor Guy Stockwell. Actress Millie Perkins was the first of his two wives. He died from natural causes.
