Sally Forrest

Born - 28 May 1928, San Diego, California, USA
Died - 15 March 2015

Fresh-faced American actress with curly blonde hair, 'discovered' by actress/director Ida Lupino, and much in demand for a few years before marriage to writer-producer Milo Frank in 1951 (they moved to New York) seemed to slow the impetus of her career. She did, however, play the role of The Girl in the Seven Year Itch on Broadway, later immortalised by Marilyn Monroe in the film. Born Katharine Sally Feeney, the daughter of ballroom dancers, she herself appeared as a dancer in a few Hollywood musicals - Till the Clouds Roll By (1946), Fiesta (1947), Easter Parade (1948), The Pirate (1948) and Everybody's Cheering/Take Me Out to the Ball Game (1949) among them - before essaying dramatic roles: Mr Belvedere Goes to College (1949), Not Wanted (1949), Never Fear (1949), Mystery Street (1950), Vengeance Valley (1950), Excuse My Dust (1951), Hard, Fast and Beautiful (1951), Bannerline (1951), Valentino (1951), Code Two (1953), Son of Sinbad (1955), Ride the High Iron (1956) and While the City Sleeps (1956), her last, although she continued acting on and off on stage and TV until the the late 1960s. She died from cancer, her husband having pre-deceased her in 2004.
