Ruggedly good-looking in a clean-cut sort of way, with a mop of light brown hair, Kernan began as an actor before concentrating on his singing career. Films include Gaolbreak (1960), Mix Me a Person (1961), Farewell Performance (1963), Zulu (1964), For Men Only (1967), Otley (1968), Up The Chastity Belt (1971), Carry On Abroad (1972), The Day of the Jackal (1973), The Education of Sonny Carson (1974) and A Swell Party (1992), his last.
