Actor

Born - 2 June 1925, Dublin, Ireland
Died - 2 April 2013

Chunky, smily-faced Irish actor with black caterpillar eyebrows to match his shock of hair (later a distinguished grey). On stage in Dublin at 10, he proved a popular interpreter of Irish comedy and drama, although his film career was sporadic at best: Contraband (1940), Talk of a Million (1951), Rooney (1958), Carry On Cabby (1963), Ulysses (1967), Romeo and Juliet (1968), The Adding Machine (1969), The Love Ban (1972), Theatre of Blood (1973), Digby, the Biggest Dog in the World (1974), Arabian Adventure (1979), The Verdict (1982), The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985), The Dream Team (1988), Only the Lonely (1991), The Playboys (1992), The Matchmaker (1997), Moonglow (2000), Puckoon (2002) and The Mystics (2003), his last. Married to actress Kitty Sullivan, he died in New York, where he had made his home since the mid 1970s.
