Pugnacious, full-faced, stocky English character actor with tightly-curled brown hair, often in aggressive, working-class roles. Perhaps best remembered as the barking Corporal Marsh in the RAF comedy series Get Some In!, recently re-shown on TV, he had begun as a teenage actor in post-war years: Skippy Smith Goes to the Circus (1953), John and Julie (1955), An Alligator Named Daisy (1955), Jazz Boat (1959), The Entertainer (1960), The Queen's Guards (1961), City Under the Sea (1965), Alfie (1966), Poor Cow (1967), Witchfinder-General (1968), In Search of Gregory (1969), Villain (1971), Nobody Ordered Love (1972), Adolf Hitler: My Part in his Downfall (1973), Poor Billy Render (1974), Superman (1978), If You Go Down in the Woods Today (1981), Loop (1997) and Cockneys vs Zombies (2012), his last. He died from coronavirus complications.
