Eddi Arent

Born - 5 May 1925, Danzig (free city), now Gdansk, Poland
Died - 28 May 2013

Quizzical, dark-haired, East European actor, often seen in broad comedy, or Bavarian-made westerns. Strangely, he often appeared as (sometimes foolish) English 'toffs'. Numerous of his films reached English-speaking shores, normally in dubbed versions. Born Gebhardt Arendt, and originally a stand-up comic, he made his film debut in Bei Dir was es immer so schon (1954) and was thereafter seen in close to 100 movies before his retirement at the turn of the century: Der Arzt von Stalingrad (1958), The Forger of London (1961), The Treasure of Silver Lake (1962), Last of the Renegades (1964), Sex in the Grass (1965), Circus of Fear (1966), The Trygon Factor (1967), Winnetou and Shatterhand in the Valley of Death (1968), Wenn du bei Mir bist (1970), Operation Lady Marlene (1975), Lady Dracula (1978), A Woman Called Harry (1989), My Mother's Courage (1995) and Manila (2000), his last.
