Swarthy American supporting actor, best remembered for his role as Commander Kit Draper in the cult sci-fi picture Robinson Crusoe on Mars (1964). Born Paul Marianetti, he ran up scores of film and (mainly) TV credits from his debut in the mid 1950s: Onionhead (1958), Battle of the Coral Sea (1959), Blood on the Arrow (1964), See You in Hell, Darling (1966), the title role of A Man Called Dagger (1968), They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969), That Man Bolt (1973), Framed (1975), W C Fields and Me (1976), The Greatest (1977), The Manitou (1978), Wolf Lake (1980), First Strike (1985), Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993), Apollo 13 (1995) and Memorial Day (1998), his last. Also a published novelist, his partner in the Robinson Crusoe film, Vic Lundin, who played Friday, died in June this year (2013).
