Michele Morgan

Born - 29 February 1920, Neuilly-sur-Seine, France
Died - 20 December 2016

Slim-faced, golden-haired, green-eyed, sulkily beautiful French actress who also enjoyed success in British and Hollywood films. Born Simone Roussel, she became one of the most sought-after stars from the early 1940s to the mid 1950s: the darker the drama, the more haunting her performances became; smiles were rare. She continued acting well into her seventies after a debut at 15 in Mademoiselle Mozart (1935). Other noteworthy credits included Orage (1937), Quai des Brumes (1938), Joan of Paris (1942), Passage to Marseilles (1944), The Chase (1946), The Fallen Idol (1948), The Naked Heart (1949), Madame X (1950), The Moment of Truth (1952), Napoleon (1954), Oasis (1955), The Vintage (1957), The Mirror Has Two Faces (1958), The Gentle Art of Murder (1962), Lost Command (1966), Benjamin (1968), Les Amis de Mon Fils (1972), Cat and Mouse/Seven Suspects to Murder (1975), Robert et Robert (1978), Un Homme et Une Femme: 20 Years Later (1986), Everybody's Fine (1990) and the TV movie La Rivale (1999), her last work. She married actors William Marshall, Henri Vidal (who died in 1959) and Gerard Oury, who died in 2006.
