Vivacious, copper-haired actress, dancer and choreographer, born Miriam Frankel and once known as 'the best chorus girl on Broadway'. Married to star dancer/actor Gene Nelson from 1941 to 1956, she followed him to Hollywood, where she appeared, often as a speciality dancer, in Let's Face It (1943), Double Indemnity (1944), Cover Girl (1944), Lady in the Dark (1944), Duffy's Tavern (1945), Kitty (1945), Masquerade in Mexuco (1945), Naughty Nanette (1946), The Jolson Story (1946), The Daughter of Rosie O'Grady (1950), Pillow Talk (1958) and Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), her last. By the end of the 1940s, she had moved behind the camera, where her credits as choreograoher or dance director include Tea for Two (1950), Lullaby of Broadway (1951), Three Sailors and a Girl (1953), Bring Your Smile Along (1955), Picnic (1956), The Big Beat (1958), High Time (1960), Honeymoon Hotel (1964), Cactus Flower (1969), The Third Girl from the Left (1973), Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1979), Sunset (1988) and Out of the Cold (1999), her last.
