Clint Walker

Actor

Born - 30 May 1927, Hartford, Illinois, USA
Died - 21 May 2018

Built like a tree trunk at 6ft 6in, dark-haired, deep-voiced Walker (born Norman Walker) was a star made by the TV western series Cheyenne, which ran for eight years from 1955. In the cinema, he had a few leading roles in colourful adventure dramas, and one or two interesting supporting parts that guyed his own giant he-man image. He would have made a fine Tarzan. After a few isolated appearances - Mighty Joe Young (1949), Jungle Gents (1954), The Ten Commandments (1956) - his film career took off: Fort Dobbs (1957), Yellowstone Kelly (1959), Gold of the Seven Saints (1961), Send Me No Flowers (1964), None But the Brave (1965), The Night of the Grizzly (1966), The Dirty Dozen (1967), More Dead Than Alive (1968), The Great Bank Robbery (1969), Pancho Villa (1971), Deadly Harvest (1975), The White Buffalo (1977), Hysterical (1982), The Serpent Warriors (1985), The Legend of Grizzly Adams (1987) and a cameo in Pearl Harbor (2001), his last. He died from congestive heart failure, having been married to each of his three wives (the second died) for 20 years.
