Lola Albright

Actress

Born - 20 July 1924, Akron, Ohio, USA
Died - 23 March 2017

Burnished blonde actress and sometime singer of husky voice and forceful personality, who broke into films in her early twenties and was winning leading roles two years later. But she seldom got the roles that her talent and smouldering personality seemed to warrant, and was lost to TV for long periods, first in Peter Gunn, then in Peyton Place. However she was much admired for her forthright portrayal in A Cold Wind in August (1961) and won best actress at the Berlin Film Festival for her performance in Lord Love a Duck (1966). Other credits include The Unfinished Dance (1947), The Pirate (1948), Champion (1949), The Good Humor Man (1950), Arctic Flight (1952), The Silver Whip (1953), The Brave and the Beautiful (1955), Pale Arrow/Pawnee (1955), The Monolith Monsters (1957), Seven Guns to Mesa (1958), Kid Galahad (1962), The Love Cage (1964), The Way West (1967) and The Impossible Years (1968), her last, although she continued to act on TV until 1984. The second of her three husbands was actor Jack Carson.
